<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">Many of you are aware that four years ago I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>After 37 daily radiotherapy sessions at the brilliant Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, I was given the all clear and that remains the position today.</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">Over the past three years, two of my sons have run in London and Brighton marathons, and we have currently raised &pound;8,235.17 for the excellent Prostate Action charity to research this terrible disease.</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;">As my boys say, &ldquo;</span><span style="font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: EN;">Thankfully Dad and his terrible jokes are still about. But not everyone is so lucky.&rdquo;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">So now it is my turn to personally help with the fund raising as I make my contribution to what is now known at the Prostate Action offices as &ldquo;Team Badcock.&rdquo;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">On Saturday, 26 May I will be doing a Sky Dive at the Sibson Airfield near Peterborough.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>When asked &ldquo;Why?&rdquo; I can only reply &ldquo;Well Why Not.&rdquo;<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>I have never done one before and don&rsquo;t know what I am letting myself in for when I step out of the plane.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>But I am here to do it.</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"><span style="font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-size: small;">Prostate Cancer kills one man every hour and research into the disease is&nbsp;drastically under-funded&nbsp;in this country, although good progress is being made day by day. </span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-size: small;">The people at Prostate Action are doing great work to ensure we learn as much as possible about this cancer and help men survive it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>Also, it is so important that men put their ego to one side, have the courage not to hide from any symptoms they might have and seek early diagnosis.</span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-size: small;">If you can spare even the smallest amount we would really appreciate it.</span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
