DENS SleepOut 2010 - Well we survived! As well as a massive thank you from Kerr, Simon and James, here is a special thank you message from Jenny Mass at DENS.
Dear Sponsors, You have raised in excess of £1,200 which is a fantastic amount; this money really will go to help those most vulnerable in our local community. In these freezing temperatures, DENS opens its doors to more people, by putting additional mattresses on the floor, and opening earlier and closing later, to prevent sending people away to spend a day or night in sub-zero temperatures.
Funds raised from events like this really help us to cover the additional costs involved in doing this, as well as providing us with money to ensure our shelters are kept in the best condition, to offer service users a clean, comfortable and homely environment, all of which help us to gain service users' trust and make them feel more secure and willing to engage in making positive changes to their lives.
Without support from the local community, DENS could not continue to offer the services it does today, so a big thank you to all who supported The Bull Team to Sleepout!
Thanks to offline sponsors: Dan, Phil, Danielle, Cindy, Annie, Keith and Paul...........and Terri and Brian.
And thanks again to everyone for their sponsorship and support.
See you next year, Kerr, Simon and James

DENS is an independent Charity which began in 1998 with a temporary Night Shelter that operated in rotation around seven local churches for five years, providing shelter during the winter months. DENS became a permanent operation in 2003 and is a community response to the local needs of homeless people, the vision in action of several concerned individuals who cared enough to want to help solve the problem of homelessness in Dacorum.
Food, clothing, shelter and support – everyone deserves them, everyone needs them. People often ask if Dacorum really has a homelessness problem; sadly it does. Homeless people may not seem obvious – we don’t have a ‘cardboard city’ but there are men and women, young and old, sleeping rough – in cars, on friends’ floors, in derelict buildings or in hostels every night of the year.
Thank you from the Bull Team.
