Staff and clients from Stonham Burton supported housing service including Kirk Reeves and 12 others are embarking on a 34 mile canoe challenge from Burton to Nottingham on the 20th September 2011. We are raising funds to enable us to do more for the homeless people who stay at our services. Our aim is to raise £1000 which will be used in Burton to create a gym for clients to use.
We will be setting off from Burton Canoe Club on the Tuesday morning and hope to make it to Nottingham by the Wednesday evening camping over night on the way. We are being supported on our challenge by Nottingham Kayak Club.
Many of our clients have experianced homelessness, addictions, offending and mental health problems and this is going to be a real challenge for them but they are all determined to raise funds to help other people in similar situations in the future.
