Story

Jake, Jacob and Denwood have decided to drive from London to Mongolia as part of the Mongol Rally (please see http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com/ for "details").  To add a degree of difficulty or eight, we're driving in a 1995 Daihatsu Hijet (see photo), the car Xhibit from Pimp My Ride famously described as "a toaster rollin' on donuts... and twice as delicious".  Max speed: depends how hard we push.  Not content with the usual route through Russia (yawn), we're pushing our toaster through Abkhazia, Kalmykia, Western Uzbekistan, and other places we may have made up.

Why?  Well, mostly for the street cred.  But, we're also raising money for some excellent charities (eg Christina Noble Childrens Foundation -- see below).  To help incentivise you to fork over some pocket change, we're running a contest:

We'd like you to post suggestions for items we should bring with us on our trip.  The funniest suggestion will win a Daihatsu Hijet (see photo).  No, no.  But we will give you the funniest thing we come across during our trip.  Hurry, though, we are leaving on July 21st.  (While the contest ends on the 21st, you can continue donating through September.)

Christina Noble Child Foundation (CNCF) continues to change the lives of disadvantaged children in Mongolia. Here are just a few of the projects they are currently running:
- The Sunshine Ger Village Project provides a shelter for street children and orphans in Ulaanbaatar. The shelter consists of 11 gers and a kindergarten.
- Healthcare Project operates a clinic at the Charity Hospital five days a week, to provide free health care and medication to the children in the sponsorship programand street children. There is also a mobile night clinic for street children that travels the city's streets, bringing emergency medical treatment, medical advice and small treats to children otherwise abandoned to the ice and snow.
- Give a Ger Campaign is an emergency fund established to provide families in danger of becoming homeless, or otherwise inadequately or dangerously accommodated, with a family home of a Mongolian Ger.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: CNCF will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please donate generously: we really appreciate your support
