Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Whilst in a pub on a Friday night a friend told me she was unable to take part in the London Marathon that she was entered for. Not wanting to let an excellent charity (WSPA) down she was trying to find someone else stupid enough to do it instead. Stupidly enough I agreed. With no training under my belt and only 10 weeks to do so I reckon it's going to be a walk in the park (positive thinking) ;-). The other challenge I have is to raise £1500 for the World Society of Protection to Animals. If I take care of the training I would be very gratefull for help with the other bit.
So please dig deep and donate before the 17th April 2011.
I will personaly guarantee all your money back should I not finish (I will be finishing)
Wish Me Luck
Many Thanks

Training Blog
Week 1
18.5 miles covered, Tough first week but who said it would be easy?
Week 2
26.5 miles covered, marathon complete only problem is it has taken me a whole week to do it, longest run so far is 6 miles.
Week 3
20.5 miles covered, knees are killing me, now booked in for sports massage once a week. Less is more from now on:-( Longest run so far 9 miles.
Week 4
26 miles covered this week including a 10 and 12 mile run. Two big runs this week as i am away all weekend and have a busy week next week.
Week 5
Only 10 miles this week, just one of those hectic weeks
Week 6
20 miles this week which included a 14 mile run. Found it hell, what am I doing, I must be nuts?
Week 7
21 miles this week with longest run being 16 miles in 2 hours 37 minutes which was suprisingly alot easier than the 14 miles last week. I might just pull this off!!!
Week 8
Tried for 20 miles this week, set off way to fast on a hot day and stopped at 14.5 miles seized up and couldn't get started again. Very dissapointed but did learn a valuable lesson for the big day!! Don't go too fast and don't stop!!
Week 9
Tapering down now, just 15 miles this week with longest run being a meer 10 miles!!!
Week 10
Last run complete, a little 8 miler to keep the legs moving. Its funny how easy 8 miles feels when you got to do 26.2 on Sunday!!! 10 weeks training done,182 miles and 32.5 hours of pounding the streets. Would of liked to have done a bit more training but the body can only take so much as it's not built for speed or distance;-)
For anyone that would like to track me on the day there is an application you can download (text RUN to 83040 for download details), then enter my running number 50768 and will register every 5K via my electronic tag on my shoe. For those seeing if they can spot me I will be wearing black shorts with blue stripes down the side, white t-shirt with bright orange vest over the top with WSPA written accross it. Failing that just follow the big sweat trail to the bright red faced lump that looks like he's dying;-)
A massive thanks to everyone that has kindly donated and supported me, it really means alot to raise the £1500 pound I needed. Everyone of you will spur me on throughout the day, without your generousity none of this would have been possible xxx
Job done, 4 hours 42 minutes 1 second. very tough but I done it. A massive thanks to everyone for your support :-)
