Story

On 2 October 2009, the IT PRO and Know Your Mobile editorial teams will be joining our tech industry colleagues in Byte Night, an annual event where we sleep outside overnight to raise funds for Action for Children.

It's our first year taking part, but the event has been going on for 11 years now. That year, 30 IT pros helped raise £35,000; last year, 500 raised £470,000. We've set ourselves a goal of £5,000 -- it's a big number for just a few weeks, so help us out and donate what you can.

And that cash is seriously needed to help the tens of thousands of vulnerable kids in the UK, especially the many who become homeless.

We'll update you on our progress here and on our sites, as well as our Twitter feeds (IT PRO and KYM) so you can follow along with how we're doing. And, if anyone knows how to keep it from raining the night of the 2nd, we'd love to hear from you...

Update: Thanks to everyone who's donated so far! We're also selling off some techie kit via eBay to raise funds -- check out the auction page here
