Great North Run 19th September (13.1) miles
In 2009 my son Declan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 3, this is a chronic, life threatening condition which has a lifelong impact on both Declan and our family.
After years of sitting at home watching the Great North Run on TV and feeling inspired to take part as you do, I finally had a good enough reason to motivate myself enough into taking action and signing up for this daunting challenge. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) immediately offered me a place in the 2010 Great North Run, this was back January when I could only manage 5 minutes of running before total exhaustion set in. There have been many low points during the past 6 months but I am now making steady progress and I’m currently at 8 miles of nonstop running.
The race is taking part on 19th September and I have set myself a challenge of raising £2000 for JDRF.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just giving page and thank you for helping me work towards reaching my sponsorship target.
Remember to look out for me on TV, I will be wearing white and blue vests with Pingu on the back and sporting a big red face!!
