We’re creating lasting change for millions of people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest places. We work alongside people with disabilities, their families and communities, making sure they have access to healthcare, education and a future where they can thrive.

Story

On 20th January, another earthquake struck the North West of Haiti with a magnitude of 6.1.

This comes just days after the devastation of the earthquake and aftershocks of the 12th January that destroyed hosptials, schools, whole streets and led to thousands losing their lives.

CBM has been working with local partners in Haiti since 1976, providing treatment and rehabilitation to people with disabilities. On 12th January, one of our projects was severely damaged in Port-au-Prince by the earthquake and its aftershocks, and the project reported 2 casualties.

As medicines and fuels run out, thousands of people are at risk of disability, as hospitals are forced to leave patients untreated, or face treating them without proper medical care - some children are even facing amputation without anaesthetic.
