RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

*** UPDATE ***

The crossing has been postponed until after the Easter holiday - there was unfortunately no wind during the week we had planned. The new date will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone for the support we've had so far - we're really chuffed with the amount we've raised so far and are almost half way towards reaching our ambitious targets!

PLEASE give generously to both this page and the MS Society page! (http://www.justgiving.com/Channelcrossing1).

A group of 7 students from Cardiff University Kitesurfing Club are putting their kitesurfing skills and endurance levels to the test by kitesurfing across the Bristol Channel!

The event will be held between the 1st - 14th April, with the exact date confirmed when wind reports are released nearer the time.

The 9-mile trip, starting at Penarth, Cardiff, and finishing at Weston Super Mare, will see the group facing waves, ships, strong winds and debris. Safety boats will accompany the group, with the event supported by Cardiff University, the RNLI and the British Kitesurfing Association.

Money raised from the event will be split between two charities: The MS Society and RNLI.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. They provide a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the coasts of the UK and RoI, as well as a seasonal lifeguard service on many of the busiest beaches in England and Wales. The RNLI also works to promote sea and beach safety

Donations from this page will go directly to the MS Society. Please also donate to our RNLI fundraising page: (http://www.justgiving.com/Channelcrossing1)
