Flora London Marathon 2006 · 23 April 2006 ·

Shooting Star Children's Hospices is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, we are here to make every moment count.

Story

This idea came about from a night in the pub ... but don't the best ideas always do!

On Sunday 23rd April we ran the London Marathon padded up in cricket whites and gloves complete with bat,  raising money for the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund as many of us either knew Ben or work in a cricketing environment.

The CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund is part of CHASE hospice care for children which supports life limited children and their families. These are children who are not expected to live past the age of 19. The Fund is raising money to help support a centre in London that will provide service to life limited children and their families.  CHASE costs over £3million each year to run and gets no statutory funding, so we rely totally on generable charitable donations.

You can see us here in this not particularly flattering photo at about Mile 14 when we could just about still raise a smile and our arms! We ran together for the majority of the way and the first of us crossed the finish line in 4 hrs 55mins

Even though the event is over the fundraising still needs to continue and we would be delighted if you could support the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: CHASE Hospice Care for Children will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Cheers
