Story
The time has come again.
First, it was 2017, then 2020, and now it’s 2023. The London Marathon, Children’s Hospice South West, and me. It’s just a thing.
Everyone that knows me, knows my story and knows how important Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is to me. Without them, I wouldn’t be in the place I am today, at peace with child bereavement and with the memory of my son, Kaleb.
In 2017 I ran the Virgin London Marathon for me and for Kaleb. Every one of the 26.2 miles was ours. I thought about him every second. It was our final goodbye.
In 2020, due to the lockdown, the London Marathon went virtual. I ran from Kaleb’s grave in North Tawton to CHSW Little Bridge House. 31 miles. It was the route I drove on the day he passed away.
Now, the 2023 TCS London Marathon is approaching, and it’s back on the streets of London. This marathon is going to be about looking forward. Sadly, there are babies, parents, and families who have no idea that CHSW is about to become a massive part of their lives. I will be running this marathon for them.
So come Sunday 23rd April 2023 (St George’s Day), I will be at the start line of the TCS London Marathon. I will as always be very proud to be in my green CHSW vest.
I will forever be grateful for the ways that CHSW and Little Bridge House helped Kaleb, and me. They will be a part of my life, for the rest of my life.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know that times are hard, and money isn’t easy, but any donation will make a huge difference. If you can’t donate, don’t underestimate the power of awareness. Just sharing this page will help.
