Hey guys,
Thanks for visiting my page!
To demonstrate that bankers indeed have hearts (sort of) and can do good for society, my team at BNP Paribas London - Energy & Infrastructure - has decided to organise a 50 mile / 80 km charity bike ride from London to Oxford on the 28th of September. We're aiming to raise GBP 50,000 to support Helen & Douglas House, a children's hospice located in Oxford.
Initially, my contribution to the whole do was on more of a spectator / donator level. Alas, I felt the shame of being a 'young', 'fit', non-participating member of the team and somehow succumbed to entering myself into the event... with absolutely no concept of how far 50 miles actually is.
Further to that piece of ignorance, I don't actually know how to ride a bike. I have memories of riding a tricycle as a young 'un, and have been attending spin classes at my local gym the past two weeks (which naively spurred me into believing that this bike ride would be do-able), but riding - nay, balancing on - a non-stationary bike is unfamiliar territory. Heaven help me.
Now, kind and generous friends, I know you would all happily donate to this children's hospice in any case... but I am hoping that my super inspiring and courageous story as a late entrant - particularly given the very high probability that this may all end in embarrassment and tears - will be even more reason for you to support this cause!
My personal target is GBP 500 (though would be great to raise more!), so would really appreciate however much you are willing to donate (though Aussies, no excuses to skimp because the Aussie dollar is on fire!).
Thanks guys, and wish me luck!
