Castleford RUFC 2nd team have chosen CHSF as the daughter of our vice-captain has been treated on the Childrens Heart Surgery Unit since she was born due to a condition called Situs Inversus which means her heart is on the right hand side of her body and other major organs are reversed/mirrored from their normal position.  In addition, she also has total atrioventricular septal defect, pulmonary stenosis and a leaking valve.

Freya has undergone 3 operations, 2 of which were major open heart surgery - the most recent being in May 2014.

Without the constant care, attention and support provided by the surgeons, consultants, nurses, anaesthetists, health care assistants and other staff on the unit, Freya would not be with us today.

We as a team, a club and their family owe so much to the staff of the LGI that we want to be able to give something back to them.
