Castleford RUFC 2nd team have chosen the Peter Congdon Neo-Natal Unit at LGI as the daughter of one of our players spent 6 months on the unit due to a condition called cerebro-costo-mandibular which required Sophie to have a tracheostomy fitted at 2 days old.

The staff on the unit not only looked after Sophie 24 hours a day, but also provided support and training for her parents in regards to the tracheostomy.

Without the constant care and attention provided by the surgeons, consultants, nurses, anaesthetists, health care assistants and other staff on the unit, Sophie would not be with us today.

We as a team, a club and their family owe so much to the staff of the LGI that we want to be able to give something back to them.
