Help us build a school for a brighter future: Chawama Sport and Educational Empowerment School

Started in May, 2007 by 3 inspirational teachers who sought a place to educate children and provide opportunities to vulnerable and orphaned youths unable to afford to attend other schools. The school began with just 2 pupils, today it teaches over 200 children daily! Over the past two years the Chawama SEE has grown and developed trust from the parents and pupils. 

CSEE has become self-sustainable; Friend of EduSport currently supports two teachers at CSEE through the sponsorship scheme and funds are provided to cover the rent of the current building out-of term time (3 months a year). However for the continual development of the school and its long term future; we are looking to buy land for the construction of a purpose built school.  The long term vision is to ensure the school has a quiet location, ample land for the school building, a sport playing field, playground area and also for an onsite orphanage to house pupils without alternative accommodation. 

Below is the detailed phased development plan and also the breakdown of our intended financial support.  

Stage 1: Buy Land and erect temporary Bamboo classrooms

Stage 2: Move from current structure for start of  2010 term in January. All funds from school fees will be accumulated to build classrooms, one per term. Parents contributions and local grants will also be sought where possible

Stage 3: Once classrooms (6), main office and toilet facilities are completed. CSEE intend to build a house structure within the grounds to accommodate orphaned pupils and their siblings.

Stage 4: CSEE to offer a food programme during term-time to ensure that all pupils receive one nutritious meal per day.
