The Great Knaresborough Bedrace · 25 May 2009

The Harrogate Homeless Project is Harrogate district's only direct access hostel, providing emergency accommodation and support for homeless people. Only 13% of our running costs are met through statutory funding, so we constantly need to raise money in order to continue.

Story

Welcome to our fundraising page!

Update: We did it!

This year the theme of the parade was 'music' so we themed ourselves as Handel's Hallelujah (Angel) Chorus!

Our time this year was 21 mins 20 secs ( last year we ran 24 mins 46 secs!) so all that training paid off.

A huge thankyou for all the support - if you wish to sponsor our effort, but haven't had chance yet,  it is not too late - this site will remain open while final donations come in. Anything you can give will make a difference.

Thankyou again

Jenny, Kerry, Elaine, June, Sarah, Kez & Ann

This year Churches Together Knaresborough Ladies are running in the The Great Knaresborough Bedrace  yet again!

We will join in the festive parade through the historic town of Knaresborough with our individually decorated bed as one of the 86 teams particpating, before the race starts at 3pm. The course around the town includes the gruelling  'Bedrace Hill', market square and an exhausting final push through the River Nidd to the finish! All tremendous fun and completely exhausting!

We want to channel all this effort, and our weeks of training, to help raise much needed funds for a project working with homeless people associated with the area. This charity is doing fantastic work including looking to modernise hostel accomodation and extend services to help people, not only secure a bed for the night, but to secure a better future by helping them to turn their lives around.

It takes around £5 to provide 5 people with a shower and a hot snack; £20 for 10 emergency foil blankets for those forced to sleep rough; £30 to cover the cost of a drop-in session; £40 for bed for the night. For more see www.harrogate-homeless-project.org.uk

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Harrogate Homeless Project Ltd gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Please support us as you feel able . Anything you can give will make a difference.

Thankyou

Jenny, Kerry, Elaine, June, Sarah, Kez & Ann
