Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.On March 7th
I will be attempting to run the Bath ½ Marathon in aid of the new Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit at RUH (Forever Friends Appeal).
Two years ago our
gorgeous twins Ed and Joss were born very prematurely, and spent their first
two months of life being cared for at RUH NICU.
The medical care they
received was outstanding. The doctors worked expertly and tirelessly, initially
to save their lives, and then to protect and promote their quality of life. We
feel so blessed that Ed and Joss have become two very bonny, healthy toddlers,
and we will be eternally indebted to RUH NICU for all they did for our boys.
Whilst the care is first
rate, the existing NICU facilities are not. For the last 3 years the
RUH has been fundraising to build a new NICU, which will provide premature or
seriously ill babies and their families a more supportive and healing
environment, based on concepts of holistic care and sustainability, alongside
medical excellence. It is set to become the blueprint for the NHS, for neonatal
intensive care units, and they are entering the final fundraising phase. For
more details on this pioneering concept in neonatal care please visit www.foreverfriendsappeal.co.uk
That is why I decided to
buy some trainers and attempt this personal challenge… A ½ Marathon might not
be an athletic feat akin to climbing Everest or rowing the Atlantic, but
given my previous fitness levels I can only say it’s all relative! I would be
very grateful if you are kind enough to sponsor me, and rest assured that truly
every penny will spur me on to cross that blasted finishing line! – and thereby
raise money for this wonderful project in neonatal care.
Thank you.
