We provide support, information and advice to disabled people and their families

Story

So I've gone and signed up for the London Triathlon. I've never done anything like this before and many of you will know that two and half years ago, this would have been completely impossible for me. I was suffering from ME/CFS and could only walk a few hundred metres in one go. For me though, getting over this was surprising easy since I had the option of going home and was looked after amazingly by my family, friends and boyfriend.

On the 28th of July, 21 months after I was first ill, I will swim 1500m in Victoria docks, get changed very quickly, cycle 40km across London and back and get changed very quickly again and then follow it up with a 10km run.

What my time with ME/CFS taught me was how difficult life is as a disabled person. Having every aspect of your life dictated by an illness/disability really really sucks! Scope support disabled people and aim to give them the same opportunities as everyone else. I also had never heard of Scope, a fantastic charity, and so it was a clear choice as my sponsored charity as hopefully I can raise it's profile a little!http://www.scope.org.uk/

I have been training pretty hard for the last three months. So far I've lost over a stone and run, swam and cycled over 300km in total. Only just over two months left though so I need to get on both the training and the sponsorship!

Anything you give is massively appreciated and I will update with lots of details and photos as time goes on. Anyone who wants to see me on the day is more than welcome and I'll give details as the time gets closer.

On the 14th of June, I'll be cutting all my hair off and donating it to Little Princesses. I'll have about an inch left, though am starting with 22+ inches!! This is to make my training less arduous, but also to raise money for Scope! Do sponsor me if you can spare anything. Pictures and videos will be uploaded on to my Facebook and here live :-S

Done! It was terrifying but I managed it! There was this awesome moment where I had this strange mullet-y mohawk! I was tempted to leave it there, but wanted to take it shorter so it was that bit more shocking!

I ended up with two very long plaits which will be posted off to whichever charity I think is best as soon as possible :-D
