Jersey Challenge - 41 mile Rowing · 2 October 2015

Seeing is Believing is a global initiative to help eliminate avoidable blindness. We help bring affordable eye-care to some of the poorest communities in the world. We’re a collaboration between Standard Chartered Bank and the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB).

Story

Hi everyone,

In just under 8 weeks I will be rowing 41 miles around Jersey in aid of Seeing Is Believing. This is such a great cause illustrating that your money can go a long way to changing the lives of people with sight impairment. I often forget how easy it is for me to seek medical help, but that is not the case for many thousands of people all over the world. Cataract surgery is a simple procedure in the UK, however many people who develop this condition in other parts of the world might never get their sight back for lack of facilities. Seeing Is Believing works to restore the sight of those less fortunate than us. Therefore, to help raise money for them I have decided to take part in an event that is by no means easy for me. I have never rowed before and am terribly unfit. But over the next 8 weeks I will put myself through the uncomfortable process of training, with all the aches and pains that come with it, not to mention the early mornings, to make sure that I complete the 41 miles. My aim is to raise £500 for this great cause. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to you all.

Caitlin
