Story
I started going to Scripture Union camps when I was in S3, I
heard about them when a new youth leader came to our church, the camps were
very influential for me as the school I went to didn’t have very many
Christians. Meeting lots of people my age with the same beliefs as me was a
great encouragement to me in my faith. My experiences at Scripture Union camps led me to joining
the church, and now they have led me to join the gap year team. During my gap
year I will be working at Scripture Unions’ two centres at Lendrick Muir near Perth, and Alltnacriche
near Aviemore. I want to take this opportunity to grow as a Christian and a person.
I hope to be a good leader and Christian role model helping others benefit from
SU camps as I did.The
cost of my gap year to Scripture Union will be £7000, this will be used
to fund my training and living expenses for the year, I have been asked
to raise a minimum of £3000 towards this but would like to cover as
much of the cost as is possible. I plan to do this through a variety of
fundraising activities ranging from Bagpacking at ASDA checkouts to A
"Whisky Tasting" evening.
