My story
In July 2010, I had an operation to lengthen 2 bones in my leg at the Sick Kids. I had a metal frame on my leg for13 months, 4 operations and lots of physiotherapy before finally getting my frame off in August 2011 and starting more physio to get back to full mobility and fitness!
During my stays in hospital, I really enjoyed watching DVDs on the portable players provided by the charity and all the activities provided by the play service. The SKFF also provides parents' accomodation, which allowed Mum and Dad to stay close by.
I decided to raise money so that other children can benefit from these things!
So far I have
- asked friends and family for donations instead of presents for my 8th birthday
- successfully completed a 1 hour sponsored silence with P3 in May 2011. It was pretty tricky but we all managed! I'm really grateful to all of P3 and the teachers for helping me with my fundraising and for looking after me while I had my frame on.
- benefitted from contributions generously provided by parents and friends attending the ESMS Junior School Christmas Carol Service of £1330.
I'm now hoping to reach £10 000. My Mum is running the Edinburgh 10k in May 2012 and I'm planning to train for a 1.5 k with my brother and sister in June 2012.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me - I'm so grateful !
Callum x
