Story
This September I'm hoping to volunteer at the running of the Homeless World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, where 64 national teams of homeless players, including 8 women's teams, will be united on Copacabana Beach for a week-long football tournament. My aim is to raise £800 for one player to represent their nation in the tournament, on top of my own travel and accomodation costs. During the summer I've been organising various fundraising events on the Isle of Iona, where I'm working at the Argyll Hotel, such as pub quizzes, games days, and discos. Around August I will be organising a bigger event to encourage people on the mainland to sponsor the cause. In the meantime even a pound or two will help a lot and is greatly appreciated!
For more information or any questions about the Homeless World Cup and its impact, you can email me -cal_mac_@hotmail.com or visit www.homelessworldcup.org. While in Rio I'm also planning on writing reports on the events of the tournament, if anyone is interested.
