Paddy Lowden was my mother-in-law and a fantastic, very supportive woman.  Unfortunately she lost her battle against Cancer 8 years ago.  We have set up a Fund in her memory, with the County Durham Community Foundation to raise money to support causes which were important to her including supporting local organisations who work in the area of youth justice, youth crime prevention and in the provision of pastoral support and rehabilitation.

We will also be supporting local organisations providing Pastoral/Family Support for sufferers of cancers or other such life limiting/threatening condition, as a reflection of our personal family experiences of this horrible disease, in its various forms.

I am doing the Durty Triathlon at the end of July (durtytriathlon.com), my first open water, off road triathlon.  I will be swim/bike/running the Short, Fast, Durty One based aroung St Mary's Loch, near Selkirk - supposedly Scotland's coldest Loch!
