DEBRA is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal. We fund pioneering research and provide care and support to individuals and families living with EB.

Story

As many of you know, I'm quite a fan of running. However this year, I want to make this running count so for all my runs this year (including the Edinburgh marathon in May), I will be fundraising for the charity DEBRA.

My beautiful goddaughter Amelie Simkin was born on 27th November 2012 and sadly passed away 5 short (but happy) weeks later on 2nd January 2013 from the cruel and rare genetic condition Herlitz Junctional EB.

Her family were supported throughout by the specialist team based at Great Ormond Street funded by the DEBRA charity. They were fantastic and an inspiration. There is currently no cure for EB, but we pray that through the research funded by DEBRA, one will eventually be found so that no child has to suffer the agony of EB and that no families have to experience the heartache caused by it.

So please dig deep and donate now.
