Tim Smith and Stuart Dodwell will be attempting to canoe the entire length of the non-tidal Thames raising money for charity
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For some reason that only they know, Tim and Stuart have decided that they should travel the length of the non-tidal Thames in a single trip from Cricklade to Teddington lock - a mere 135 miles.
As to be expected, this idea was arrived at whilst in the pub. It sounded like a good idea at the time and after making a public announcement to that effect it was rather hard to back out.
Several options were explored; rowing, swimming, pedalo..... After much discussion it was finally decided that the best option would be an open canoe. This had several advantages as we could carry all the equipment we needed for camping, they are readily availalble and if necessary we could carry it. The main disadvantage is that although we have both done some rowing before, I had only been in a canoe once when I was eight. So, paddling one for 30 miles a day was going to prove a challenge.
Take a look at the blog page to see our progress (or lack of).
