Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please read all of this before you consider a generous donation for two UK charities.
Everyone deserves an education. Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia, with limited access to education in rural areas and a rapidly growing population your help is needed now.
Having visited Cambodia I have seen first hand the extreme divide between the tourism that we want to see and experience, and real life in Cambodia. The extent of the poverty is there to see all around if you choose to notice. This visit I want to make a difference and I need your support to make it happen.
I think regularly about how privileged I am to have been given access to education and not always appreciating it. Given a roof over my head, food and all the first world perks I love and now expect.
What would we do with out it. Can you think how you feel if you even left your phone at home one day... lost?
Please consider someone who isn’t given these privileges as standard and has to wonder where the next meal will come from let alone the struggle for that person not having even the basics of education.
My motivation for this challenge is to reset my perspective on life and attempt to give back. I am lucky to have had a strong stable upbringing and strong determined parents. My mother has done so much through her life not only for me but everyone she has touched. From friends to orphans in Romania to the homeless of Glasgow. If I can do a small thing like this I’ll perhaps make a small difference.
Please help me achieve this. My commitment is to give my all to the challenge.
In October 2018 I am going to fly to Cambodia with 40 of my colleagues from Santander to help build 5 new classrooms within the Knapor community.
This will not only benefit the current 432 students who attend, but will ensure the school is well equipped for the rising number of students expected over the next few years. It'll be challenging, but so rewarding.
As part of this challenge, I am raising money for Age UK and Barnardo's who believe that no one should have to go through life alone, no matter their age.
The great news, is that the trip costs (flights etc) have been covered, so every single penny of my £2,000 target will go to charity.
PLUS if I hit my £2,000 target, It will be matched by Santander meaning I will have raised £4,000.
Every donation counts and is very important so please dig deep so I can build schools and raise money for two amazing charities.
If you have read all of this please tell me if you feel it has made you question your privilege and comfort.
Thank you so much!
