Cara was born with Kostmanns Syndrome, a rare blood disorder that made it hard for her to fight infections. She was admitted to Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital for a bone marrow transplant in November 2010. Despite receiving donated stem cells from a perfectly matched donor cord she developed severe complications following transplant.
Cara fell asleep just after her first birthday on 17th April, 2011 after a long fight. She was inspirational throughout her battle, always lifting the spirits and positivity of everyone around her and making us laugh even during the harder times.
During her final weeks of life, Cara was treated by staff on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where she was just too poorly to be moved for a much needed CT scan. Money raised here will go towards a new portable CT scanner and other vital equipment needed in ICU.
Give generously folks, we raised £3500 at cara's celebration day and would love to add another £1000 to that total.
Thanks again,
Cara, Kay and Tony
