Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In the UK and around the world, we make sure children stay safe, healthy and keep learning, so they can become who they want to be.

Story

Hello there! We are three teenagers, Tom Bevan, Carys Bird and Gareth Whatley, who are walking over 200km along the Welsh coast from the capital Cardiff to our smallest city St David's in aid of Save the Children. We are doing the walk within a week in August (11th-18th), which means over 30km a day and we will be camping for most of the trip. With your help, we hope to raise over £2000 for Save the Children, a charity who help children around the world to have better lives. Please give as much as you can for a very worthwhile cause.

Lots of love,

Tom, Gareth and Carys

*Update 4*[14th July 2011]

Exams are over! Gareth and I have just finished our Gold D of E walk so are nice and blistered and Carys is busy working for a major retailer of pants to earn some dollar. Our walk is less than a month away and we have begun to book campsites (finally) and are finalising the exact route. Cardiff High gave us a massive £500 after I delivered a week of assemblies about Save the Children and Year 8 raised £260 following one of these assemblies. This week we are giving the same assembly at St Teilos. All is busy!

We are very excited about the walk now and think we can smash past our £2000 target :) Big love, Tom and the team xx

*Update 3* [22nd May] Over £1000! Yippee! Thanks everyone, means a lot and I know Save the Children will be very pleased :)

This week Gareth and I had exams so our fundraising was put on hold but the three of us met up, in a wood, to get some pictures in our Save the Children gear. We're hoping to publicise our walk in the paper and said photos will be used for this.

We also wrote off to some 'major retailers' to ask if we can bag-pack at their stores and we hope to set this up once all the exams a fini, if you'd excuse my French.

Cheers again for your support- and thank goodness the world didn't end yesterday hey?!

Tom and the team :)

*Update 2* [1st May 2011] Howdy all! Hope your Easter was crack-a-lackin'..

Thank you all who have already donated, we are really pleased with how much we've raised so far…but of course we need the help of your friends so pass this on! This week we will be mostly preparing and presenting an assembly at school (with the help of some kind Save the Children workers) and booking campsites (with the help of my parent's kind credit card) Yee hah! Also, we have found a B&B in Port Talbot (camping difficult) offering 'a little piece of the American Southwest in Wales'…waffles for breakfast I hope!

Oh and we are selling raffle tickets (30p each, £1 for 5) for one more week to win that Blackberry Curve or Shopping Vouchers so see us around for tickets!

Cheers, and... Keep donating! Tom and the team (well mostly Tom) xx

*Update 1* Tom and Carys' Cake Sale at school on 15/4 raised a marvellous £105 which we have added to our offline donation tally. Thank you Cardiff High, especially Mel the mate, Rach the sis, Maddie the friend of the sis and everyone else who helped out! Tom xx
