Run to the Beat 2012 · 28 October 2012 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

What have I got myself in for?!?!

For those that know me well, you know that i am no runner. But having lost my very dear friend Maria McKay to cancer this year, I wanted to raise some much needed funds for charity and so I signed up to run a half marathon to do just that. crazy? yes! random? absolutely!...but that was one of my favourite things about Maria.

She was one of a kind and would be the first of any friend standing on the side line cheering me on during such an event. She would then be the first at the finish line, waiting with a beer. I miss her terribly every day and I hope  your donations will help fund research projects to fight this terrible disease and stop other lives being taken from us way too soon.

Your support and encouragement means a lot so thank you!!! I’m going to need it to get me through the 21kms!

I’d like to thank Grant, Tracey, Sonja and Cristina who are all joining me on this journey. The girls are running to raise money for Meningitis Research Foundation, in memory of Tracey's friend Sheree. Their page is http://www.justgiving.com/wethoughtitwas5km

Here’s to the long road ahead!
