Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The event took place on 25 October 2011
I must say it was such a difficult day but every second of it was worth it due to the amount of money raised on the day. The team worked themselves to the bone and didnt stop once until the 8 mile point was reached. I am so pleased at the fantastic effort made by all. Below are the details of the final outcome of the challenge.
Total distance – 8 miles (12.8 km)
Total time – 5 hours 19 minutes 41 seconds
Total number of flips – 7025
Individual number of flips – 1405 each
A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED AND TO ALL THAT SUPPORTED THE EVENT THIS WEEK!!
The Challenge
On 25 October 2011 I aim to flip a 120 KG truck tyre a total distance of 8 miles. There will be no time limit on the challenge but for us to finish it in one piece will be an achievement. I will be using a team of 5 people (including myself) to raise money for Wishing Well charity. www.wishingwellcharity.org.uk/ The team will take turns at flipping the tyre over the 8 mile route using a squat/dead-lift technique. As you can appreciate, it will be an extremely physically demanding challenge, relying on huge support and encouragement from every Regiment on PRB to keep us going for the duration.
About the charity
Wishing Well is a small international children's charity. It works with children and families with fewer opportunities, delivering a range of projects with an educational or health focus. Wishing Well also supports children with a terminal illness's and/or disability.
Why am I raising money?
We have a family friend who has been working in Romania, giving up her own time and dedicating her life to helping sick and disabled children. She has made us fully aware of the situation in Romania and how unfortunate and underprivileged children are in the area she is working. Many have severe disabilities with some suffering from life limiting conditions. Being a parent, it has inspired me to raise the money because I believe every child in life deserves to live a happy and comfortable life.
What will your money actually do?
All of the money raised will go towards the construction of a sensory play room. The aims of this project are to provide the children with the opportunity to go outdoors and experience play within a positive, caring environment. For most of the children this will be their only chance to have play and stimulation and we aim to improve their development to give them hope for the future. For the children who unfortunately won't survive due to their circumstance we want to give them fond memories. We are hoping to have different types of play available but sensory play would be most beneficial for the children. The money will also go towards new toys, games and snacks such as yoghurts for children who are not on solids, or fruit for the more able kids. None of this is provided by the Government.
Many many thanks for your support with this truly worthy event.
