Last November Phil sadly passed away and he once told me to never have any regrets in life and always pursue my dreams.  I’ll admit, getting hit in the face is certainly not one of them but I do have a true love for the sport of boxing and have always been a keen admirer from afar.  I therefore decided to put my body and face on the line and fight on a White Collar event, all in memory of Phil, friends and family and anyone else who has faced or witnessed this terrible disease first hand.  The fight is scheduled for the 4 May 2013 and I’ll be dedicating it to the memory of Phil but also my Aunt Eve, my close friends and family and everyone I know who had to suffer at the hands of cancer. 

The eulogy read at Phil’s funeral was both touching and inspiring and it was not long after that I signed up to fight in his memory.  When it was clear he didn’t have a great deal of time left, Phil was strong to the end and asked for everyone to remember the good times and understand he had lived a good life.  In fact, he mentioned children with this disease were the ones we should feel sorry for and this was a major factor in choosing the charity that I have agreed to represent.
