WE DID IT!!!!!!

Thanks so much to all of you for your kind support and fantastic donations for such positive action by Ray.

The ride was gruelling yet extremely rewarding too! Well done to Ray and Frankie and thanks for not getting too frustrated with my slow going and dodgy bike!!!

Ray now has his flight booked for the 27th August so will soon be in Kigali giving his support to the young people and helping them develop their personal skills for a more positive future.

Lots of love to you all,

Carl x

PS - An extra thank-you to those of you who have kindly continued to donate even after the ride! - xx

Hi all,

In the interest of friendship and supporting good causes, I've decided to join my friends, Ray and Frankie, on a sponsored cycle ride...

  - those of you who know me well, will know that I have a history of such endeavours. These have included, Lands End to John O'Groats in 1985, when I was 17, raising money for the fight against Leukemia; and, completing the Dartmoor Jailbreak in 1996, cycling from Dartmoor to New York and back to London(!!!) for Scope -

...we will be cycling from Brighton to Tor Point, Cornwall (240miles) on July 4th, 2011.

I am taking up this challenge in order to support my friend, Ray, to raise the money for his airfare to go to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

He has been volunteering in Brighton for this amazing charity called rYico that helps street children in Kigali. And the opportunity has arisen for him to go there and set-up a sewing and tailoring vocational skills workshop for the children.

He wants to help in what ever way he can to get children away from the poverty and exploitation that they experience living parentless, on the streets. rYico houses, loves and schools some of these children and wants to be able to reach out to them all.

Also...thanks to the amazing socialist institution that is the NHS, Ray's foot was rebuilt (anyone remember the six million dollar man?) and saved from amputation. So we eternally grateful to them and for Ray to still be able to walk the walk...eh, cycle the cycle!

Frankie is raising money for Macmillan cancer charity, here's a link to his page:  http://www.justgiving.com/Francis-Hewitt
