Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2003 my uncle Colin passed away after catching the hospital related infection MRSA. At only 32 his life was cut short and the great friend and role model that I had always looked up to was taken away from me in the most tragic of circumstances. I never even knew what MRSA was at the time and I struggled to come to terms with the fact that he had contracted this infection in the hospital itself whilst undergoing none life threatening tests. I don’t often get the chance to talk about this however every now and then I remember the fun times I had as a child, the mischief he made me get up to, the wood work lessons he gave me and my first camping experience in my Nan’s back garden where I first developed the taste for baked beans cooked in the can.

I have decided to run the London Marathon in memory of my uncle Colin and to raise awareness of the hospital related infection. I hope that by doing so it will allow my family and friends to come together and remember the fun loving person Colin was, whilst at the same time uniting everyone who has been equally affected by MRSA and other health care related infections.
