In the UK we take education for granted, yet there are still countries out there where children have to fight for an education. Link Community Develpment are a charity that provides eduacation in a safe environment for children in some of the most underpriviledged parts of the world. I have family who work in education, and I intend to become a teacher of English as a second language myself, as such I can't imagine working in an environment where my life is at risk every day. This is what the children in these countries have to deal with.

Hike 2013 is an event run by Link in which numerous people take time out of their busy schedules to do something good. Hitchhiking allows fundraisers like myself the opportunity to spread the word whilst travelling through Europe, as well as helping out in the countries we pass through.

I will be arranging fund raising events before I leave on the trip ranging from endurance races to a potential sky dive when the weather improves. I completed the Dartmoor Vale Half Marathon on October 21st 2012 in Newton Abbot, Devon, my next scheduled race is the Marathon de Paris on April 7th, which will signal the start of my hitch.
