Diabetes is serious - if left untreated it can lead to heart disease, stroke, amputation and other life threatening conditions. Diabetes UK works to support people with diabetes, their families and those researching a cure for diabetes and means of preventing it.
I developed Type 1 diabetes just over 10 years ago. I am determined that I will control my diabetes, rather than the other way round, and so far I have managed to live a full and active life.
I plan to continue this by completing the 3 Peaks Challenge in 2010, starting on the 6th June, to raise money for Diabetes UK. I shall be walking with Richard and Martin, who will be raising money for Asthma research and Help for Heroes respectively.
