Story
After last years exploits completing 100 miles in the Ride London event, this year I am upping the mileage and joining my friend Daren Winder, as we both take part in the Football to Amsterdam ride for Prostate Cancer UK.
The route is 145+ miles over 2 days from the London Velo Park up through Essex and Netherlands finishing at Ajax Area in Amsterdam.
Like many families, in the last couple of years, both mine and Daren families were affected by cancer.
Prostate Cancer is now the third most common cancer in the UK affecting more men than ever (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/feb/02/prostate-cancer-now-kills-more-people-than-breast-cancer-uk-figures-reveal) but receives less funding and more limited screening programmes than other types of cancer.
Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.
