In August this year, a team of 13 staff from a total of 10 European countries where Cushman & Wakefield operates, will set out on a grueling trek to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, in support of the firm’s registered charity, Schools Around The World [SATW].

Carlos Oliveira, Partner and Head of Office Agency at C&W Portugal will channel all funds raised by them to Florinhas da Rua institution.

Florinhas da Rua ("Street Flowers") was established in 1917 with the purpose of supporting young girls, daughters os prostitutes, recuing them from situations of extreme poverty and vulnerability. Today, the institution is home to children of bith sexes, coming from disfunctional families, usually referred there by order of the Family Court ot the Child Protection. The house functions as a surrogate family, and children stay for long as it takes to establish a safe and nurturing environment in their biological families - which in some cases nerver happens.

Florinhas da Rua is currently home to about 25 children and young adults, aged between 6 and 17.

Carlos Oliveira and C&W Lisbon office, through its SATW charity, are raising money for the construction of a kitchen in Florinhas' new house (which is being built).  

At a time when all charities have suffered due to the economic difficulties of the past 18 months, the SATW Kilimanjaro trek is an opportunity to raise funds for a project that aims to give something back to the children of Florinhas da Rua.
