Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We would really appreciate any support to help us
raise vital funds for Berkshire Sands. “Sands” stands for Stillbirth and Neo-natal Death and is a registered charity that provides support to families in the area who have been affected by the loss of a baby.
Berkshire Sands hold monthly support meetings; remembrance
walks and memorial services. They have created a beautifully sculptured tree on Ray Mill Island in Maidenhead where families can place memorial leaves on the tree. They also work in partnership
with health care professionals to offer a range of training programmes and bereavement care resources to ensure that every bereaved parent and family receives the best possible care.
I have received first-hand support from Berkshire Sands after the loss of my son Kit in July 2019. They have provided me with a safe talking space through monthly meetings, memorial events and by using their befriender line. Without Sands, I would not have found the strength to return to my role as a Paediatric nurse, a career that comes with so many triggers for my grief.
As a family we want to give back to those who have given us
the love, understanding and reassurance that we aren’t alone and have allowed us to embrace our grief without prejudice.
With the above in mind, I am asking if you are able to help us by donating something towards our Family Fun Day on 16th
July 2022 in memory of our son Kit. All items received will be raffled or auctioned.
Our aim is to provide Berkshire Sands with a bookcase with
special story books that families can use to read to their baby/babies whilst in hospital. Any remaining funds would be shared between Berkshire Sands and the Sands national charity.
Thank you in anticipation of your support, please see our
Family Fun Day poster attached.
Lots of love
Carly, Terry and Kit Edwards family xx
