Story
By now you will be aware that we achieved our challenge to climb Kilimanjaro in support of Woking Hospice when we reached the summit, Uhuru Peak (5895m), at 08.10 on the 3 March. This was after six days of relentless treking and climbing through five different climate zones. We both agreed that it was the hardest thing, both mentally and physically that we have ever done, however, it was an amazing experience, one that neither of us will ever forget.
Sadly the trip took on an added purpose as my (Carol's) lovely Mum passed away from cancer on the morning of our departure to Kilimanjaro. My family had asked me 'to do it for Mum' making it a truly emotional experience as I knew she was with me every step of the way.
We would like to thank everyone for the fantastic support that we received both before and after the trek and by supporting us, you supported Woking Hospice. We far exceeded our target and Woking Hospice day centre will now benefit from your wonderful generosity.
Please do not stop supporting Woking Hospice or any hospice - the work they do is awe inspiring and without our support they can't provide the service that is so vital in our community.
A huge thank you from us both :-)
Carol & Carrie
