So... My reason for doing this?
In September 2009 in warm, sunny weather with excellent visibility two walkers set off from Nether Wasdale heading for Seatallen, Haycock and Caw Fell with their planned route bringing them back via Buckbarrow. This collection of peaks was the last of the lakeland fells to be bagged by the pair. They were very fit and experienced walkers carrying all the right equipment, clothing, food, water the lot. Initially the walk went well but after scaling two of the four peaks the gentleman became unwell and while traversing down from Haycock he collapsed. For more than an hour his wife tried in vain to obtain a signal from their mobile phone, walking up to the summits did nothing, heading further down failed as well. The decision was taken between the two that she should leave him and go for assistance. Earlier that morning while on one peak summit she had watched farmers gathering on the fellside far below - she took water, map and compass and left her companion, to head in the direction of the people she had seen some hours before. Eventually she found help on pasture close to Windsor Farm some four hours after she had left her partner. Eleven members of the the Wasdale Mountain Rescue went to his aid and he was airlifted to hospital. He had suffered heart collapse owing to an undetected heart condition, he died two days later.
