Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

Every 5 minutes, someone dies from heart diseases in the UK. We need to tackle this problem head on, and we need to start today. Your donations will fund lifesaving medical research to find new treatments and cures. We need your help, until there are no more deaths from heart diseases.

Story

I am running my third marathon in LONDON in memory of my Grandfather. This summer my 97 year old Grandad (very mobile and aware) underwent experimental heart surgery (he wanted to continue living in his own home and decided to give the surgery 'a go'). Sadly for us, he didn't make it through the recovery (he did make it through the surgery).  Thankfully, the Doctors learnt a lot, so that many more Grandad/Grandmas, Mum/Dads, Brothers, Sisters etc can continue to live healthy lives.

Last time I went 13 minutes over a Boston Qualifying time, on a super hilly course, this time with a flat course and some home team support, I am hoping to hit a BQ time (and then maybe retire).

I hope that you will contribute just a few pounds. I know in these economic times, a few pounds is hard to come by, as an alternative, in the spirit of healthy living, join me on the day of the run for a 'virtual run' (or an any given sunday). Put your trainers on and walk, cycle, run around the block, round the park or up the hill and think of how much better you will feel - hopefully it will be the start of a new life - at the same time you can grin and wonder 'why' I would be possessed to run 42.2km!

Cheers,

Carolee
