Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Me and a group of 15 others will be cycling from Lusaka to Livingstone, a gruelling 400km in 4 days, in the heat of Zambia. To put this in context Its basically the equivalent of doing London to Brighton 4 times in a row, so it's going to be tough!

Below is a bit about the charity we're cycling for: Before the cycle, I will be working on the 'basic medical care' bit, providing first aid kits for the schools and working with the school nurses and school doctor to provide basic medical care to the 900 children that attend 2 community schools.

Beyond Ourselves is working In the Copperbelt region in Zambia building and developing community schools. These schools, which offer education without any cost, are being built around Zambia to help educate those unable to afford government education. We are partnering together with three churches who have started community schools. It is our belief that with this style of education, children's futures will be bright and hopeful and those employed through the building and running of these schools (builders, teachers, cooks etc.) will also benefit.

 

We are focusing on three main areas:

 

CHILD SPONSORSHIP

Sponsoring children to enable them to go to school for no cost, receive free school meals, access to basic medical care and school uniforms.

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Providing employment in local communities to enable carers to support their families and change their communities.

 

TEACHER TRAINING

Training teachers with skills to impact their classrooms and empower them for life. Making a difference to them and their families.
