Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

As you all know, Liam, my partner of 14 years and Daddy to our little Olive died peacefully in his sleep in December.

He was a fit 33 year old who loved watching and playing all sports and he enjoyed a career as a successful sports journalist. In memory of an amazing boyfriend, model father and one of the most charismatic people I have ever met, I have decided to run a half marathon in October.

The charity I am raising money for is C-R-Y - Cardiac Risk in the Young. This charity works with cardiologists and family doctors to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young by establishing good practice and screening facilities devoted to significantly reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death throughout the UK.

Your support is greatly appreciated ....not least because in Liam's words (after watching me take part in the Manchester 10k a few years ago), I was running so slowly that he thought I was going backwards. Let's just say it doesn't come naturally to me!

Thank you everyone,

Caroline/Ginge x
