We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Thankyou for visiting my Justgiving page.

In June 2010, I will be cycling 300km+ from London to Paris to raise funds for JDRF and their ground breaking diabetes research programme, in the hope that they will one day find a cure for children like Iona.

As most of you know, Iona (7) was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in September after a distressing summer of constant drinking, dashes to the loo and weightloss. She just wasn't herself at all - getting the diagnosis of diabetes and starting treatment has meant we've got our little girl back, but there's now a lifetime of testing, injections and regular hospital visits ahead of her. She's coped really well so far, but, it's not much fun!

JDRF is at the forefront of diabetes research and any medical breakthrough would have such a positive impact on a diabetic's quality of life. Iona (and Rhianna) are now part of one of their many research projects to help identify the role of genes and auto-immunity in diabetes.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

In addition, as we are funding all the costs of this trip, every penny donated will go to JDRF! So, please help JDRF and children like Iona and donate!

Thankyou so much,

Caroline
