UPDATE (7th June): So far, Nick and I have run nearly 500km between us. To be honest, I'm not sure we're going to make the challenge now. Our schedule was slightly scuppered by an extended holiday thanks to a certain Icelandic ash cloud. Nick's new job and commute to London is also making it difficult for him to get to the gym to clock up the km's. I've taken a new approach and am now running interval training - I'm up to doing 10k at a time though, so if I can keep increasing my distances then we might still make it.

We are going to keep on trying though and do our best to reach the target. If we don't, then anyone who's donated so far will get a refund out of our own pockets - the cash we've raised to date will still go to Cancer Research, we promise.

Hi everyone!

As you know, Caroline has done a bit of competitive (in the loosest sense of the word!) running before. Nick hasn't.

Caroline didn't want to just keep running half marathons. Mainly because the collection of medals is getting very noisy and gives her away when she is sneaking into the baking cupboard.

Nick doesn't want to run half marathons. He doesn't even really want to do this. We're kidding, of course.

Due to other (drama related) commitments, Nick wouldn't be able to run races on Sundays, so we decided to try and come up with something that would be a challenge to us both, but that we could fit around our incredibly busy lives.

Therefore we have decided, as a combined effort, to try and run 2010km in 2010... and raise £2010 for Cancer Research (that'll probably be the biggest challenge, to be honest, but we wanted to keep the symmetry going!).

As we get older, we find that sadly we see more and more evidence of the effects of Cancer on the lives of those around us. Therefore we have chosen to raise funds for Cancer Research. Caroline, in particular, has experienced many incidences of the disease in her family in recent years; with funding for past research helping to cure both Caroline's father and sister, amongst others.
