Story
Hi everyone,
I am currently raising money for Save The Children in partnership with my workplace.
In November, along with 11 other colleagues, I shall be sailing in the ARC Race from Gran Canaria, across the Atlantic, and finishing in St Lucia. This is probably going to be the hardest challenge I have ever done. We will be at sea for between 2-3 weeks with 16 of us confined to a pretty small space, going on four hours of sleep at one time. Mentally this is really going to push me and needless to say I am slightly scared (the first sight of St Lucia will be a relief!). If you can donate anything, please do! It's all going to a very worthy cause - Save the Children.
In 2012, Save The Children responded to emergencies in 39 different countries, delivering food, water, healthcare, protection and education to 4 million children and their family members.
Their current emergency campaigns include helping children in:-
- Syria (where the civil war has cost the lives of more than 11,000 children and turned 1 million into refugees)
- Libya - where more than 1.5 million people fled and another 100,000 were internally displaced
- The Philippines where more than 500,00 homes were washed away by Typhoon Haiyan
