This year I wanted to put my mind and body to the test by taking part in a physical challenge in order to raise awareness and funds for Macmillan. The number of people with cancer is growing every day, and many of us have experienced first-hand what it’s like for someone close to us to face cancer, and how awful it is to lose someone to this disease.

In May, I will be taking on 8 peaks in just 8 hours in the Lake District, tackling some of the most demanding and rugged mountains in England in a single day, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England! It will be tough but I am determined to complete it and make it back in one piece. I’ll be following in the footsteps of a deeply missed gentle giant, and all-round good Cumbrian lad – my Uncle Ted.
