Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This page is in memory of my Uncle Wally, whos funeral I attended on June 8th 2011.

Yesterday I learned some new things about Uncle Wally. He had written a book, taken a keen interest in Quantum Physics and dressed up as the Queen one Christmas day complete with wig, pearls and gloves to deliver a speech to crowds waiting outside his caravan. He travelled the world and followed his heart.

I was also reminded about some of the things I already knew about him. He was a great friend, son, brother, husband, father and of course Uncle. A huge Chelsea fan, a keen golfer and a good and kind man.

In September 2011 Alan was diagnosed with cancer and began his battle against the disease. He took all treatments that were offered but lost the fight on May 20th 2011.

Alan's last days were spent in the company of family at Willen Hospice and during that time he spoke of how lucky he had been to have 'lived the life of a rock star'.

I can only imagine how hard it was for the people who were by his side during those very difficult times, and I wish I could have helped more then.

This Sunday June 12th, Tim and I are running the St Albans Half Marathon and Jasper is running the 1.5km childrens race. It would really mean alot if our efforts can go towards raising money for Willen hospice who cared for Alan and the family during his illness.

I realise times are tough and there a many request for charities at the moment and I'm sure all are worthy, however I ask that you find just a few pounds to support me in showing our gratitude to Willen Hospice for evrything they did for my Uncle Wally and everything they continue to do for other families who find themselves in similar heart breaking situations.
