Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Please sponsor me, and take a little time to read the following.

As a parent, we all put our children's health as the most important thing we value. Very often we hear that children are suffering from serious illnesses such as leukaemia & meningitis, and yet more children die from brain tumours than any other cancer.

Our appeal and aim from this Bike Ride is to highlight a disease that unfortunately is often regarded as the forgotten cancer. Brain tumours are not hereditary and they are difficult to diagnose. More research needs to be done so that early diagnosis can be achieved by our GPs. The SDBTT was formed in 1996 by Neil and Angela Dickson; they lost their only daughter at the age of 16. The trust is now the largest charity for brain tumours in the UK, and it has formed strong alliances with other groups around the world.

The trust does not receive Government funding, and therefore it relies heavily on charitable support for the money it spends on valuable research. Furthermore, it provides much needed comfort and guidance for sufferers and their families. They have set up and funded a unique facility at University College Hospital, London, which specialises in finding more effective treatment. A good friend and fellow parent at our childrens' school had to undergo emergency surgery followed by gruelling treatment and through the research made at this centre, has benefitted from an improved diagnosis.

Your generous support will and can make a difference and hopefully a cure can eventually be found. Thank you for your donation. For more information please visit www.braintumourtrust.co.uk

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
