#TeamYoungLives are running the Virgin Money London Marathon 2020 hoping to raise over £800,000 for young people with cancer and their families.

Story

I decided to support CLIC Sargent and run the London marathon this year because, in June 2019 my lifelong friend’s 6-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. The first person they saw who wasn't an NHS member of staff. It was a CLIC Sargent social worker. The social worker spent time with the entire family listening and understanding and giving them the support, they needed in the first few days of their daughter's diagnosis. Since then CLIC have done continued to support  the family and provided emotional and practical support. Social workers have visited my friends daughter's school to meet with not just her teacher but her older brother as well to ensure the school is fully understanding of what the children and family are going through. This type of support at a time when the family is struggling is so critical and having seen the impacts of cancer firsthand I felt the need to get involved and raise money and awareness for a wonderful charity that is supporting her family.

When cancer strikes young lives CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. We provide specialist support, to help and guide each young cancer patient and their family. For more information, visit www.clicsargent.org.uk
